North East Region of Hong Kong Geopark is full of rock in strange and interesting forms. The Tolo Channel is showing the oldest rocks in HK geological history. We visit the "Devil Fist", rust-coloured conglomerate and siltstone on the Port Island, is known as “Danxia Wonder at Sea”.
Lai Chi Chong has rather complicated geological setting and rock types, with Mesozoic volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks, tuff, rhyolite and Paleozoic sedimentary rocks occurring locally. After the seafood lunch on the Grass-Island, a small fishery village, we visit the peaceful grassland along the coastline.
