Introduction:

Can you imagine going through 400 million years of geological history in one day?
Participants are guaranteed an unforgettable journey; learn about the youngest and oldest sedimentary rock in Hong Kong, and more.

This geo-time journey is led by our expert R2G geo-guides. Our boat will first sail to the Tolo Channel. Landforms aged 400 million years are right in front of us. They are the oldest rock group in Hong Kong. Bluff Head (Wong Chuk Kok Tsui) , which is of high value in Hong Kong geological study, is at one end of the channel. The rocks here are red and yellow in colours and barren. “Devil’s Fist” is a landmark of Bluff Head. Our professional R2G geo guides will explain to you the formation of this ancient rock form and how fragile it is.

Our boat will then head northeast. Once we reach Tung Ping Chau, our geological clock switches back to 5.5 million years ago. We will have a wonderful tour on Tung Ping Chau to get in touch with the youngest rock group in Hong Kong. Led by our expert guides, we will check out unique coastal erosion features like Lung Lok Shui, Kang Lau Shek and Cham Keng Chau; understand the power of sedimentation and weathering.
We hope through this tour and professional interpretation, all tour members can have better understanding of Hong Kong landforms and geological history and appreciation of the power of nature, thus realize the importance of geological conservation.
